Hi, you seem to know a lot about the births and deaths of this family so how come that you don't know  descendants of each one ? If you are familiar with ancestry, there are loads of people that are researching the same family so maybe you could contact them. Ann for example was married to ERNEST PURCELL, SIDNEY to HENRIETTA DORIS HARRIS in 1922, Madeley.

You don't say how far you have got in this tree, but that's asking a lot to research ALL of those children's partners.

Other than that, try freebmd and systematically research each one allowing say 18-25 years of age getting married. It all depends of course where they settled , so it's no good assuming they all got married in Madeley itself.  I see from 1901 censuses that a lot of children were born Madeley but not all, lot born Staffs. There aren't any more children other than Hilda and Francis born to couple with MMN of BUCKLEY after 1912 in Madeley, other than West Derby or Macclesfield.

I see that it was indeed a very large family, even in my tree with a smaller family, I haven't researched all of their partners !

Good luck with that.

Hi yes it is a very large family!

Unfortuately the Ernest Purcell family tree on Ancestry has all the wrong details and I have informed the owner of that tree.

I have no problem going backwards with this family as they pretty much stayed in the same sort of areas but with this particular generation and after they appear to have disappeared from the areas I would expect to find them in.  Also one of the reasons why I don't know anymore than births and deaths (which I have cost me a fortune) is there are so many of them that have the same names as cousins (and similar DOB's) hence some missing details. For example the Arthur in this tree has similar details to another Arthur I know (William married a Mary Harris who's father was the other Arthur) and it wasn't until I realized that William couldn't of possibly married his own niece by blood that I realized I had the wrong one! thats why I need the help of descendants so that i can fill in missing details to further my research.

This particular generation is my grandfathers and unfortunately he left the family in the early 40's with no further contact (he took me nearly seven years to find!)  The other problem I have is this particular family of Harris' had a tendency to marry other Harris families from the area (see example above) that turn out not to be related although I'm sure if I go back further than the 500 years I have already managed to do they are! Another example of this in recent history is my own mother, her first husband was a Harris and no relation to my father who is also Harris and from roughly the same area so I have full siblings and half siblings and we have the same surname! Try explaining that to our children!

I know of only one other relative that is still alive that could of known anything but unfortuately she was to young at the time to remember or even know of any of her fathers (William) brothers and sisters so only really knows as much as my own father does.

So any help would be appreciated.

I think you need to go to the churches in Madeley and do look-ups. I don't live in Shropshire or don't know if you do either, so can't help you I'm afraid. There  are 4  I googled;  St Michael's, Church St, Madeley, Baptist Church, High St,Madeley; Methodist Church, Court St, Madeley; and St Mary's Church, 70 High St, Madeley to look up marriages.

Good luck with all that anyway.
