Hello,

I am trying to clear up some confussion in my family tree.

Harriett Simmons, I believe her parents to be Samuel SIMONDS and Mary SMITH, but the problem I have his Harriett's Grandparents: Robert and Mary, they don't appear to have had a son called Samuel.

Harriet was christened 30/11/1834 in Cheswardine, Shropshire.

I need to check Samuels parents.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Dave Gosling

Hello Dave

How did you discover the names of Samuel's parents, Robert and Mary SIMMONS, if it wasn't from Samuel's baptism at Cheswardine on 21 Feb 1796?

There are three other baptisms at Cheswardine apparently with the same parents. Elizabeth 1780, Robert 1787 and Sarah 1790.

In addition there is a baptism of a Robert at Moreton Say in 1777 - was he their first child who died before 1787 when Robert was baptised at Cheswardine? You need to look for a possible death for this Robert.

At the moment I can't see a marriage for Robert SIMMONS and Mary {?} in the 1770's.

Thank you Michael, I may have to visit the area soon, what would be the best places to visit, that cover the Edgmond, Moreton Say, Cheswardine area.

Hello Dave

If you wish to do research and look at records then you should visit Shropshire Archives at Shrewsbury.

Note their opening hours on this page.
