Hi, I am trying to find out information on Thomas FURY who was my Great Great Grandfather, Thomas was his name according to his son John FURY's marriage certificate. John was married in St Laurewce Church, Ludlow in 1896 to Susan NICHOLAS. John was born in Radnorshire in 1876, & was a nurse child from age 4 living with a family called BLACKWAY. Any more information or where I could look for Thomas would be most appreciated.

Can you tell us what occupation is given on John FURY's marriage certificate for his father Thomas?
Also, can you tell us whether or not his father is recorded as "deceased"?

I had no "positive" joy looking for either John's early life (although later life including military appears on FindMyPast) or anything concrete about father Thomas. The Parish records are still held for Knighton in the County Record Office at Llandrindod Wells, but there doesn't seem to be a birth registered at the GRO, so I wondered if there is a possibility of a name change - my wife's family are from near to that area and the nurse child somehow took on the household name - but no papers to prove it.
There are Will and Death Duty Registers online showing a death 6 Jan 1888 of a Thomas FURY of Brynmawr, Breconshire who's executor was an Ann FURY, but that's a fair distance compared to Knighton to Ludlow. This couple show up in the 1861 & 1881 Census Llangattock & Brynmawr born 1821 & 1822, Ireland, Thomas was a Tinman, but I can't be sure they are yours.
The only other tiny glimmer of light might be that on Genesreunited.co.uk there are two trees that contain a John FURY born 1876/7 owned by a Reginald & a Pamela, also there is a Thomas born 1820 Ireland, in 3 other members trees, so it may be worth joining GR and enquiring of these members to see if they hold any certificates/papers/clues.
