I am working back from Henry YAPP, who appears in the 1841 census in Aldon, Stokesay, Ludlow in a non-standard group with several siblings, with (maybe) an aunt/uncle and another aunt (?) with the surname SMITH (see below).  Henry's parents (from the Shropshire parish records through findmypast) are George and Elizabeth.  They can be found in 1841 and 1851 just over the Worcestershire border in Grafton, Bockleton, Tenbury.

My question is this - both the Shropshire parish records and the IGI have links to two possible marriages for a George YAPP to an Elizabeth.  One is to Elizabeth SMITH and this is at Caynham on either 4/10/1811 or 4/10/1812.  The other is to Elizabeth WEBSTER at Stokesay in December 1824.

I wonder if anyone else has been following any of these lines and can shed light whether there are one or two George Yapps involved here!  Or maybe he became a widower and these are two separate marriages. The balance of probability and circumstantial evidence is that it is the YAPP/SMITH marriage that I want but I cannot yet be 100% sure.

Maybe someone has some oral history or some better research! Thanks in anticipation.  Henry is my ggg-gf and the family moved to Oldbury (the one in the W Midlands) and I myself was b West Bromwich. The YAPP line is from Henry to Mary Ann to James Sr to James Jr (b 1911) to Raymond (b 1934) to me (b 1957).  I might be back with a CLEE family query in the future as I have links there too.

Thank you!  GY
