I am researching my "COLEBATCH" Family lots from Shropshire particularly Chetton, Cleobury Mortimer and Coreley....
I have hit a brick wall with John COLEBATCH who married Frances BALDWIN 12 June 1763 Coreley Shropshire. John is buried at Cleobury Mortimer but I can't seem to find any details re Francis except that her brother is the Rev John BALDWIN and poss her father could be the Rev Andrew BALDWIN...
any help would be much appreciated!
Thanks for taking the time look at this.....
I am also looking at Margaret Baldwin who marries Timothy Colebatch who is the above John's brother.
I am think Margaret and Frances are sisters as well.....
Hello again,
Margaret Baldwin daughter of Andrew Baldwin, Curate and Frances his wife was Baptised on 17th May 1732 at Stottesdon, Shropshire. Once again this record is in FMP - both a transcription and the record from the Original Register and gives you the extra bit of info. that by 1732 Andrew Baldwin, (Margaret's father), was now a CURATE at Stottesdon, Shropshire.
As regards Margaret Baldwin's marraige to Timothy Colebatch it's interesting to note that the Original Marriage Register records him as a Clerk of Brewood, Staffordshire. The couple a Bachelor and a Spinster, were married by Licence which I understand was quite expensive, but waived the otherwise necessary 3 consecutive weeks of "Reading of the Banns".
Cheers, Helen
Hello,
First I must put on record that EVANS is such a common name, and there are numerous death records in Shropshire of a "FrancIs" or "FrancEs" Evans after the the marriage date you mention. But none in Neen Savage where records show Evan Evans was a "Curate". Checking quickly through the Registers there are none that I found that mention a Frances EVANS as the wife of a Curate. HOWEVER there is one Frances Evans' Anglican Death and Burial which may possibly be the wife of Evan EVANS that you're looking for:
Frances EVANS: Birth Year 1731
Age: 83
Death Year: 1814
Burial Date: 3rd April 1814
Burial Place: Coreley, Shropshire
There is nothing recorded about this same Frances Evans having been a Wife/Widow of a Curate. All the best, Helen
Helen
Thanks so much for your help..... I think you have it with Frances in Coreley Shropshire..... Her son George looks like he buried there in 1815!!!! Pity I can't get the images!!!
Timothy COLEBATCH and Margaret have a child Polydore COLEBATCH and it looks like his Bapt in 1771 Brewood and then I can't find any more records for him but the family tree has him as the headmaster of Broad Grammar.... Rev Timothy was the Headmaster of Brewood Grammar......

Hello,
Further to Timothy COLEBATCH in FMP Death and Burial Registers: The Rev. Mr Timothy COLEBATCH, Head Mast of Brewood School was buried on 10th August 1778.
Burial Place: Brewood, Ss Mary and Chad, Staffordshire.
I did look for Timothy's wife; Margaret COLEBATCH nee BALDWIN's death after her son - Polydore's birth in 1771 - or her re-marriage after 1778 without any luck. Unfortunately there are a several Margaret COLEBATCHes in FMP records, (including one who died in Herefordshire at 83 years of age), but I'll have to leave it to you to work on this subject further.
Best wishes, Helen
Several COLEBATCHs lived in Colebatch, a hamlet 1 mile south of Bishop's Castle, at one time, particularly in the 17th century. I'll have a look at the history I worked on to do with Colebatch (the place) to see who was there. The name is thought to mean "cold valley" I think and, even now, people in BC say it is always colder in Colebatch, 1 mile away. :)
Hello,
FMP death and Burial Records: Burial of the Rev. Evan EVANS, Rector of Silvington, (Reg. District of Cleobury Mortinmer). Buried on 8th February 1785.
Silvington was a Parish close to Cleobury Mortimer.
Cheers, Helen
Hello,
I too live in Victoria, Australia. I have found the following entries in Findmypast.
Of course this 1730 baptismal date for Frances means she was 33 years old when she married John Colebatch. I did also find Colebatchs in the Baptismal Register, of Coreley, Shropshire. (I have searched FMP years thoroughly and cannot find any other Frances/Francis Baldwins) Francis was clearly well educated as her signature on hers and John Colebatch's Marriage Reg. is in a lovely "hand". I have downloaded copies of these images but sadly, not being "tech savvy", I can't find how to Attach them to this email. Hope this info helps Cheers, Helen
