I have found that my dad's grandfather was called Christopher Fordham and was born in Oswestry c1873, he received the French Cross Medal in 1914.  I wondered if anyone else is researching this name in Oswestry?  Or does any one have any details of any Fordhams in this area?

Thank you

Hello,

You do not say HOW or WHERE you have "found" your information (-:

It helps to cite one’s sources, to avoid having would-be helpers running around in circles & wasting time....

Perhaps you are referring to an entry in the 1901 Census ?

If so, said entry is not supported by IGI, nor 1881 Census nor FreeBMD in this respect.

In fact; a search on Free BMD for all counties, for a birth for a Christopher FOR* (wildcard search) for the period 1870 to 1875, produces no meaningful results.

One wonders if he was using his "proper" first-name?

Please post more information  !
such as your the names (& maiden name) of your father’s parents, & their approximate marriage date, to allow searching for a possible marriage and above all, registration district.
