I am thinking of buying a new computer which will undoubtedly run on Windows 10. I am currently running Family Tree Maker 2010 on Windows 7 without problems. Has anyone any knowledge of changing to Windows 10? Also is it easy to upgrade FTM 2010? I have heard that some people have had problems with such upgrades.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Ben Hughes

Oops sorry! Just realised this query may have broken SFHS rules. Too late was the cry!

Thanks to everyone for the replies. I have upgraded to FTM 2014 and so far found no problems!

Hello Ben

You shouldn't have any problem running the 2010 version of FTM on a Windows 10 computer - I am running the 2006 version on mine.

The program has been taken over by MacKiev.  Have a look at their web site.

Hi Ben,

I use FTM on two computers running W7 and successfully upgraded 2010 to 2012 on both, however I have only succeeded with one upgrade to 2014. The first was when 2014 first appeared , I recently (Nov/Dec '16) tried to upgrade my second computer but 2014 refuses to launch, giving me error messages. The upgrade was from original disc and I tried the download from new owners MacKiev but that also doesn't work.

Regards

Malcolm
