Research has proven that my 9th Gt Grandmother was named Magdalen Dymocke, born Oteley Hall, Ellesmere on 6 MAR 1615. Despite further reasearch, I cannot find anything definitive as to her family ancestry further back in time apart from a possible father called Nicholas Dymocke from Lincolnshire. There are records at National Archives associated with the Dymocke surname and associated with the area of Ellesmere, Hanmer and Tybroughton across previous years (all seem to be legal judgements and a couple even noted as 'Dymocke -v- Dymocke') but, whilst they can be accessed for a fee, all seem to be hand-written in Latin, which provides no help whatsoever. I therefore wondered if anybody in this group had come across the surname and could provide some detailed history. Clearly there is some significance within the geographical area as there was a 'Dymock Arms' pub in Penley, close to Hanmer.
Hi It's me again, Regarding the story I told, I think I might have given the wrong surname. It did begin with the letter K. But I think the name was Kenyon, sorry about that.
Best Regards
