Looking for children of Thomas Gad & Elizabeth Banks.  Located only one son James Gad( my g.g.grandfather) born 6 July 1824 Market Drayton,  bap.  30 April 1826.  Father Labourer, Abode Drayton County Salop.  Hard to read off Register of Baptisms Primitive Methodists.   Minister was Joseph Preston.  Unable to find any other children, which I think in those times they would have had more than one.  Found index of James b. Prees Green ( Non Conformist RG4-8 Family Search). No others.

If someone could confirm if I have it right.  1825 opening first Primitive Methodist chapel in alley between Cheshire St & Frogmore Rd.  Is it still there?  Does it have records?

Hello Dianne,

Am not resident of Market Drayton, but with ancestral home being one time in Frogmore Road, I have a copy of an Alan Godfrey reprint of 1900 OS map.  This shows a Primitive Methodist Chapel on the western side of Frogmore Road.  I have no knowledge of the earlier chapel you mention.  If you are able to "Google Earth" to "street view", you will see the building still existing (opposite the car park) as "Festival Drayton Centre".  The following website, which gives some history of Methodist chapels in MD, indicates the one I mention to have been built in 1866 and closed in 1985:  http://www.mdmc.org.uk/history.htm

The next link shows what (non-conformist) registers are held at Shropshire Archives (see under Drayton in Hales): http://www.shropshire.gov.uk/archives.nsf/viewAttachments/SDAS-8LJKNA/$file/nonconformist-registers-2001-version.pdf

Hope this helps.

David
