On 9 May 2015 at St Mary's Church, Atherstone, north Warwickshire there is a gathering of BATES family members [if you are one, you are welcome to join us - see www.nnwfhs.org.uk].
I decided to explore a twiglet on the ever-expanding tree which led to Robert & Charlotte BATES in Claverley in 1841.  Robert had just served 2 months for obtaining flour by misrepresentation.  I have not found Charlotte or Robert in 1851, but two of their children are living, still in Claverley, with their uncle & aunt, BARTLAM.

If you know of their demise - or location - after 1841, I would be pleased to hear from you.

I have information on Robert's settlement statement, and a little on his parents, from the Hartshill holdings at Warwick Record Office.

Does anyone descend from this line of BATES?  If so, do please get in touch.

Hello Jacqui,

My husbands mother Joyce GARDNER (nee) BATES was born 16 September 1916 we believe, but we can not find any registration. She appears to have been brought up with Wallace Hobbs DUPPA from Witches Farm, Quatford, Bridgnorth. His parents Charles Alfred Osborne DUPPA and Elizabeth DUPPA (nee) HOBBS.

As anyone out there lost a little BATES girl?  We would like to find out where she came from.
