Hi There, I am a new member and amateur genealogist.
I have hit a brick wall trying to find my relatives prior to the 1841 census.
What I do know is that my great-great-great-great grandfather was called George ARMSTRONG, he married a woman called Frances HARTSHORNE in Broseley in 1793. Their son was John ARMSTRONG b.1801 in Broseley (my great-great-great grandfather) and he had at least one brother, George b. 1802 Broseley. By the time of the 1841 census they were both living in Wolverhampton.
In the Broseley Parish records I see that there were a number of ARMSTRONGs living in Broseley between 1700 and 1750, but because of the missing generation(s) 1750 -1793 I can not connect the two of them.
Are there any ARMSTRONGs out there that may be able to help?
Kind regards Ben

The only George ARMSTRONG in Shropshire that I can find on familysearch.org would have been 14 when my George ARMSTRONG married Fances HARTSHORN in 1793. He features as a 75 year old on the 1841 census and in parish cristening records for Broseley St Leonards Church. I suspect that my George may have been from out of the area. Would the marriage record from 1793 have a date of birth on it? Are there any other avenues that you could suggest I explore?

Also I recently found out that George's father-in-Law was John HARTSHORN who owned a Colliery in the area in the 1700s

Marriage records are very unhelpful in terms of dates but it would say if George was "of the parish."

I have just created a website charting my family history. Please take a look and let me know if you can add anything:

A couple of weeks ago I went to Merridale cemetery in Wolverhampton to find the graves of Isaac and his father John b. 1801 - Broseley), unfortunately they were both buried in a communal grave and there is nothing to show on them at the cemetery. I have just made a new connection on the BENTON side of my tree, so let me know if you can help me with the ARMSTRONGs.

It has been over six months since I was last on this site.

I have become completely stumped on my ARMSTRONG / HARTSHORN tree, but I am still searching.

Let me know if you can help.
