Hello Molly

The basic answer is No although there may be a few isolated items held in Shropshire.

Welshpool is in Wales and historically was in the County of Montgomery which became part of Powis in 1974.

You will find some useful information on the Federation of Family History Societies (FFHS) web page at this address which also has a link to the Genealogy UK and Ireland (GENUKI) web site where you will find many useful links.

On the open shelves there is a set of the Welshpool parish registers as transcribed, indexed and printed by Montgomeryshire Genealogical Society. I suggest that you look in their website under publications to determine whether their coverage meets your needs.

Many Wills from Welshpool and area after 1857 were proved in the Principal Probate Registry through the Shrewsbury District Registry. There is, again, on open shelves an index up to 1940 - AND the Wills were copied into yearly Act Books which are kept at Archives. A reader's ticket is needed to see the latter - and cannot be ordered up on Saturdays..
