Principal Record Specialist – Family History Advice and Records Knowledge Department, The National Archives. Mark Pearsall joined The National Archives in the 1980’s, and has many years’ experience of advising on its holdings, including immigration records. Currently he works in Reader Information Services Department. He is a contributor to Ancestors, The National Archives’ family history magazine and has published several books.

24th Annual Re-union- 10am Sunday 10th June - Leebotwood Village Hall, Shropshire, SY6 6NH.
All ‘Preens’ and descendants of Preens are welcome to come along and enjoy a great day.
Morning tea/coffee, two short talks, a brief AGM, Group Photocall, followed by
buffet lunch and time to stroll up to the 13th-century, Grade II Listed church of St. Mary, Leebotwood, or to go by car and also visit St Michaels & All Angels church at Smethcote, 3 miles away in a beautiful, tranquil setting. Both churches have Preen connections and graves. The whole day, including refreshments costs £15 per person, (or £13 for bookings made prior to 31st May 2012). Includes Afternoon Tea. There will be new source documents, plenty of time for research, meeting old friends – and making new ones. Local people will attend to recount their memories of when the Preens ran the village shop! Preen books on sale, including the launch of the new and latest Cardington Group 1660 – 1911 Volume.

Shropshire Family History Society are running a Coach from Shrewsbury (Abbey Foregate Car Park, 6:30AM) and Wellington (The Cock Hotel, 6:45AM) to York and the Fair. Drop off points & collections at the fair and then York Centre. It is possible to walk from the Racecourse into York if you wish. Return pickup's from the fair at 4:30PM and York Centre at 5PM. Expected return to Shrewsbury by about 9:15PM.
The cost is £18 in advance, it is open to members AND their friends. If you intend to go to the fair there will be and extra adult entrance fee of £4.50 pp payable on the door.
There are only a limited number of seats left and so payment must be sent ASAP to our treasurer June Jennings (see "About Us" then Committee for details) or email her treasurer @ sfhs.org.uk (remove spaces to use) for our BACS transfer details if you wish to pay electronically.
If you pay by cheque please write the names of those travelling and where they are starting from and a mobile number in case of problems on the day, otherwise include them in an email to June Jennings.
